1986 Ford Cargo 6000 Updates to unit were; Complete interior redone. 6.6 liter engine changed to 7.7 liter with 210HP. Twin disc clutch. New paint. New brakes complete. New front & rear springs. That was all this unit needed for repairs. It has a 22' X 102" bed which was made by KIlar using a single sheet of diamond plate for the deck. The crossmembers are on 6" centers with a 8000LBS winch. It has chain pockets every one foot on both sides of the bed with a chain strap runing the entire lenght under the bed.It also has a 6000LB wheel independant wheel lift installed. It is presently being fitted with a wireless remote control for the winch operation (6-15-03).
This is how it arrived at our shop for updating. Bottom unit had a Ma. title, the top unit had a Vt. title, and it had a R.I. ten day temp. registration permit, and it was driven from R.I. to Mi. via Canada, no problems until it hit U.S. Customs on the re-entry to the U.S.!
Top unit being unloaded. Trucks were seperated before the main unit was put into the shop for updating. The second unit was purchased mainly for spare parts if needed.
Ready for a bed. Unit ready for the trip from Mi. to Pa. for the installation of the bed & wheel lift. No pictures were taken of the unit during rehab as it was all mundane work. the Lincoln on the trailer was used as a chase vehicle for the return trip home.
Earning it's keep, This unit has shown itself to be very adaptive to many work situation, here it's loading a 24" cargo box which was taken off of a truck that was sold.
